2018 - A Year Of Growth & Development

2018 was a year of growth and development at the Network Time Foundation. A tremendous amount of work was accomplished and, importantly, the foundations of what will be an incredible 2019 have been put down. Important Technical Achievements over the past twelve months included:

  • Two security releases – 4.2.8p11 and 4.2.8p12

  • Adding NTS extension field coding, presented at IETF101 in London in March.

  • Signing a statement of work with Symas to upgrade and fix our OpenLDAP instance

  • NTS implementation support up through revision 12

  • An internal deep-dive technical R&D investigation into a cleaner, more-secure NTP implementation

On the Finance and Administration side, NTF changed CPA firms for monthly/yearly reconciliations and reviews and made the decision to move from annual financial audit to annual financial review for 2018. NTF engaged with SustainOSS and with OpenCollective to increase community appeal and signed new memberships including:

As a nonprofit organization, it is all of you who help the Network Time Foundation produce and maintain the most reliable, secure and trusted open source network time software, so vital to the infrastructure of our modern world.
